Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) is a nonprofit organization that equips underrepresented college students with the professional networks, professional coaching, and career opportunities needed to excel in the workplace. By preparing students to succeed in the workforce, MLT increases their chances of securing a high-wage job and achieving upward socioeconomic mobility. In turn, MLT empowers them to transform their communities and institutions. Through the MLT Program, UNC Kenan-Flagler hopes to increase the number of underrepresented students in the college community.
To date, Management Leadership for Tomorrow has employed 1,387 people. Of these, 63% are women and 38% are men. The average tenure for an employee is 5.5 years, with an average salary of $63,887. The organization has strategic partnerships with top philanthropies and has been featured on CNN’s Black in America 2: Tomorrow’s Leaders.
The IRS has determined that Management Leadership for Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While this is true, the IRS has significantly delayed the processing of its tax forms and therefore, the nonprofit’s Charity Navigator rating may not accurately reflect current operations. Charity Navigator’s nonprofit ratings are based on efficiency, financial health, sustainability, accountability, and transparency.
As a nonprofit organization, Management Leadership for Tomorrow focuses on building diverse leaders and creating an equitable workplace. This commitment can be seen in the organization’s ‘All In’ campaign, which encourages other employers to sign on to the MLT Black Equity at Work Certification. By signing on, these companies certify that they have made progress toward racial equity in the workplace.
