The Global Leadership Academy is a collaboration between the Copenhagen Business School and the Danish Confederation of Industry. The academy’s founder, Rikke Kristine Nielsen, is also an assistant professor at Aalborg University Copenhagen. Her dissertation explores how developing a global mindset can help multinational corporations improve their performance globally.
Global leadership requires a leader to engage diverse groups across cultures and geographies, as well as to navigate complicated organizational structures and time zones. Those who excel at global leadership must be able to lead people on a global level, and do so by navigating five barriers of distance, time zone differences, and technology. Furthermore, global leaders are often tasked with leading highly distributed teams across the world, which operate primarily through communication technology and normally operate within the framework of an international organization structure.
To earn a certificate from the Global Leadership Academy, candidates must self-enroll and complete five core workshops as well as four electives. These workshops are held on the Tempe campus or through Zoom. Moreover, applicants must attend two GLA-approved global ASU events to earn their certificate. The Global Leadership Academy is a great opportunity for those who are seeking a career in global leadership.
To become a global leader, you must have a positive mindset, a willingness to learn and a willingness to engage in challenging work environments. Being flexible and accepting of other people’s perspectives are crucial. In this regard, the GLA’s mission is not to create a “perfect” leader. It is about enabling change through a collective approach, as Dr. Schmitz puts it. Its philosophy is that successful leaders have a forward-looking attitude, a “forward-looking” mindset, and a “healthy and fit” attitude.
Global Leadership Academy Cs has 1 schools and 688 students. The majority of students are minorities, and 99.1% of the student body is economically disadvantaged. In addition, the school has a 0% White student body and a 98.4% black student body. A small percentage of students are Hispanic. The school also employs unspecified number of full-time counselors.
The Global Leadership Academy provides a world-minded education that empowers students for the future. The academy’s curriculum emphasizes collaborative skills, cross-cultural communication, and empathy. Its small class size and supportive advisory system enable students to develop their leadership skills and become confident leaders. It fosters a culture of entrepreneurialism and gives students a global perspective on leadership. It also encourages students to take an active part in their community.
The GLA is unique in its approach to leadership development. The curriculum, developed by fellows, covers the various leadership domains required to be successful in higher education. The academy also offers unique opportunities for networking within the Webster University community. Fellows participate in workshops with subject matter experts and previous GLA fellows.
