The 2020 CCRSM Leadership Summit provided educators with a six-day virtual experience focused on supporting the development of educators and their students. The Summit provided opportunities for networking and shared experiences with other educators, as well as featured speakers such as Texas Education Agency leaders and National Teacher of the Year Lily Laux. The 2021 CCRSM Leadership Summit Kickoff Webinar is scheduled for October 29. Presenters Dr. Ibarra-Cantu shared the TSI report for September, and asked campus representatives to share their action plans for administering the TSIA2. N. Canales is absent because she’s too busy working on HB4545 hours. The Leadership Summit is the ideal time for local and regional stakeholders to work together on addressing workforce issues.
The 2017 CCRSM Leadership Summit featured three notable leaders who have contributed to the organization’s goals. Karina Ross is the team lead for the College and Career Readiness initiative, overseeing communications, program management, and multiple regional convenings across Texas. Formerly, she served at the Huntington Learning Center and Southern Methodist University. Jazminda Ross supports Educate Texas’ education initiative, while contributing to the organization’s other priorities. She has spent most of her career in the nonprofit sector.
The Summit was attended by representatives of TEA, the APHEA, and the CCRSM Initiative. Among its participants were statewide coordinators for advanced academics and P-TECH programming. The Summit also featured an assistant director for Postsecondary Preparation Programs at TEA. The Summit also featured several keynote speakers from the TEA and the CCRSM. Tracy Williams, Deputy Director of Programs for Educate Texas, brings extensive experience in business analytics from the banking industry. She also works closely with the CFT Insights and Analytics team, building their capacity to do data analysis and program evaluation. Susan Coop, Deputy Director of Programs for CCRSM, supports the expansion of school models, and supports the professional development of CCRSM leaders.

The College and Career Readiness School Model (CCRSM) leadership summit is a highly interactive learning event that brings together education leaders from across Texas. The event’s New Leader Learning Series kicked off on July 27 and features four days of live presentations, on-demand content, and reflection sessions. This year’s leadership summit featured keynote speakers Dr. Lily Laux and Dr. Tamara Lewis Wilborn. They discussed how to leverage highly effective educators and maintain a focus on students in need.
Clarissa McKinney has served as a dual credit program specialist for South Texas College. She has also served in the offices of deans at the University of Texas-Pan American and University of Texas-RGV. Clarissa’s current role at Educate Texas includes organizing administrative activities and facilitating program development. Before joining Educate Texas, Cynthia worked as a senior administrative assistant for Texas Education Commissioner John Wiley Price.
Christine Bailey serves as the Assistant Director of Postsecondary Preparation Programs for TEA. She provides strategic leadership for the CCRSM initiative, directs strategic planning and creates professional development opportunities for network members. Her team’s mission is to support a culture of high expectations, which are vital to the success of the CCRSM initiative. In this environment, aspiring leaders can find inspiration from these women who share their own experiences and knowledge.

First, the TEA teaches attendees how to interpret labor market data and what’s important. Attendees will learn where to find the most useful data about regional workforce needs. Second, they will learn how to use guiding questions to drive table dialogue. This practice will reveal priorities for community partners and the development of education programming. Finally, the TEA provides a framework for presenting workforce needs to regional leaders.
