Madison Deckert, a former Camp Olympia Leadership Program participant, got her start as a camper when she was seven. After her camp experience, she volunteered for the organization as part of the O’Crew and subsequently worked as a counselor, junior counselor, division head, and summer assistant director. Throughout the camp, campers participate in more than forty activities. The variety of choices allows campers to engage in their favorite activities and experience new ones. Each activity supports the camp’s larger goals, and each camper is given the opportunity to explore his or her passion. The cabin culture at Olympia is an integral part of the camp experience. Counselors are carefully screened and trained to get to know three campers as if they were their own. By doing so, counselors stay focused on being role models and make sure no camper falls through the cracks.
