Youth Leadership Hardin County
The program is sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Hardin alumni. It is designed to provide leadership training for high school juniors. The program meets for six school days during the junior year and includes lectures, practical exercises, community visits, and independent study. The program also includes meetings with key community leaders. All participants learn about the organization of their community and available resources. It also aims to promote the understanding of community problems and the need for change.
Lincoln Trail Youth Salute
The Lincoln Trail Youth Salute program honors young people who demonstrate leadership in their communities. These young people are screened based on their leadership potential, and their biographical sketches, essays, and personal interviews are required. The application also requires a minimum GPA and two community positions of leadership. Deadline for applications is Dec. 5. Applicants must be at least 14 years old. The program is coordinated by the National Council on Youth Leadership, a nonprofit organization that helps communities develop youth leaders today. The Lincoln Trail Youth Salute honors teen leaders in thirteen different high schools in the region. It is one of the nation’s largest youth leadership programs, and participants receive awards that range from $500 to $125. All participants receive a certificate from the National Council on Youth Leadership. The Lincoln Trail Youth Salute program aims to recognize the outstanding leaders in all communities.
Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center
The Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center is a public school located at University Drive in Elizabethtown, KY. The school district serves the children of Hardin County and offers K-12 education. All children within the boundaries of the district are eligible to attend the school. The program can take anywhere from 3 months to 2 years to complete. The cost to attend ranges from $120 to $500, with the median being $153.
The Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center offers specially designed classes in fields such as Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Manufacturing, Engineering, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Welding, and many others. This building uses a system of demand control ventilation and variable speed water source heat pumps. It is home to 19 full-time teachers and supports the community’s economic development efforts. The program also utilizes geothermal bores to provide a comfortable indoor climate.
Hardin County Schools Superintendent of the Year
After receiving a Master’s in Education from University of Kentucky, Terrie Morgan has become the Hardin County Schools superintendent of the year. She has been praised by Regina Boone, president of the Hardin County Education Association. She has worked to ensure her district’s success and has been honest and transparent throughout her tenure. Before taking on the role of superintendent, Morgan was the director of elementary curriculum at G.C. Burkhead Elementary School.
The announcement of Morgan as Hardin County Schools Superintendent of the Year comes as a surprise to many. Hardin County Schools is already reverting to the old fashioned method of in-person instruction. The district will use a hybrid A/B scheduling model to allow students to attend classes on certain days. Morgan says she will continue this model and is grateful for the recognition. If she can keep up her high standards, she will have no problem winning the award.
Nannette Johnston’s dedication to education has inspired hard work and high standards. Johnston spent nearly her entire life connected with Hardin County Schools. She served as superintendent for ten years. She was named Kentucky Superintendent of the Year in 2014, and retired in 2016. Nannette is credited with helping to establish the Nannette S. Johnston Impact Fund for Hardin County Schools, which promotes student success and affordable higher education opportunities for the county’s students.
In addition to being Hardin County Schools Superintendent of the Year, Kopp has received several other awards. He has received certification as a School Superintendent and as a Level 2 Instructional Supervisor, as well as a Master of Social Sciences. He also holds a Rank 1 certification in middle and secondary school social studies. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio State University in 1993 and his Master’s degree in 2000. In 2005, Kopp earned his second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the University of South Florida.
Grants available for program participants
The Hardin County NAACP’s Leadership Program offers scholarship opportunities for students. There are many programs and organizations that can benefit from these awards. These include the Hardin County Playhouse and the KACC’s Kimberly D. Merritt Achieve Your Dreams Scholarship. Additionally, if you are a veteran, you may be eligible for the Order of the Eastern Star and NAACP’s Lottie O. Robinson Scholarship.
The district offers two scholarship programs to graduating seniors. One is aimed at graduating seniors planning to pursue a career in the facilities field. The other scholarship is for employees pursuing a degree in the same field. The scholarship awards $2,000 and can be renewed once a year. Eligible majors are Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Equine Management, Medical Assisting, Marketing, Microsoft Office Specialist, Mobile Service Technician, Swine Management, and Swine Management. Applicants must be high school seniors and have maintained a 2.5 GPA.
The Community Foundation of Hardin County awarded numerous grants on Tuesday, with the total amount of awards set at $193,000 through 2021. Because of the pandemic, the organization did not hold a grant awards banquet. The Hardin County Community Foundation will issue the checks to the recipients of the grants. The Hardin County Community Foundation reported total assets of $9.5 million and $78,218 in property and equipment.
Through the Tennessee Community Support Grant program, eligible organizations can provide literacy education and academic instruction for local residents. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis. The grant recipient organization must be an organization that has demonstrated its effectiveness in literacy and adult education programs. Once an organization has met the requirements, they will receive funding to enhance their services to residents. Once again, the TOP program is a valuable opportunity for community members.

Youth Leadership Hardin County
The program is sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce and alumni of Leadership Hardin County. The purpose of the program is to train high school juniors to become effective leaders. The course focuses on developing the mind, body, and confidence of participants. Participants will learn to work with a variety of people and organizations to create positive change in the community. Youth Leadership Hardin County provides students with opportunities to take on leadership positions in the local community and to learn about the importance of community service.
4-H programs for youth in Hardin County are an excellent way to learn about various careers and develop a sense of community. In the early 1900s, 4-H projects focused on new farming and homemaking methods. The county 4-H program used the building for awards night, too. In 1957, 4-H Booster Committees were established on a trial basis to promote the 4-H program in the community. Today, booster committees still exist in some townships.

The EHCIF recently named a new chairman for the Hardin County board. The board consists of 11 members representing businesses, industries, and community organizations. Some of the members of the Hardin County board include Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory and Hardin County Judge/Executive Harry Berry. Suzanne Perla, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, serves on the Hardin County Board of Education. Suzanne holds a Masters of Business Administration from Bellarmine University. She has just retired from her position as the executive assistant to Hardin County Judge Harry Berry. She has three adult children: Jennifer Mellott, Lee McBride, and Jessica McBride. Each has a varied background in education, business, and community service.
Program
The Leadership Hardin County program is a 12-session, eleven-month training course designed for local leaders. It offers participants a comprehensive understanding of their community’s challenges and opportunities. The program focuses on the issues facing today’s growing and changing communities. It features lectures, practical exercises, visits, and independent study. Each student also undertakes a community project. Participants will be required to serve as a public servant in their community for at least a year, and the completion of the program will earn a certificate in leadership.
The program emphasizes the importance of community service. Participants will visit local government offices, such as the county jail, to gain a better understanding of the role of local leaders. They will also visit three military units on Fort Knox for hands-on training. Besides the local government offices, the students will have the opportunity to visit the 19th Engineer Battalion and the Warrior Transition Battalion. They will learn about different types of government services, such as law enforcement and public safety.
The Early College and Career Center (EC3) is an innovative initiative that blends education and training. Through partnerships with local businesses, the EC3 provides eight-week training programs that prepare participants for career paths that include healthcare, culinary, and allied health fields. It also offers internships in biomedical fields. Throughout the year, participants will have the opportunity to learn about these fields, including how to run their own business. In addition to leadership and community service, students also have the opportunity to take part in leadership and volunteer activities in their community.
Participants
Several organizations and individuals in Hardin County have been recognized at the annual MH Awareness luncheon for their contributions to the community. Faith in Action, the Friendship Club, and Achieve Mental Health were among the organizations honored. Alison Brennan, director of Achieve Mental Health, was also awarded a “Partner in Recovery” award for her services to the community. Both of these organizations provide outstanding services for residents in Hardin County.
A variety of educational opportunities abound in Hardin County, and the Leadership 2021-2022 class was no exception. The chamber of commerce hosted the event and focused on educational topics. There were also presentations from local schools, including a public relations representative and a district home-school-community liaison. Several other speakers gave presentations on a variety of topics, including the prevention of student homelessness. Participants were also able to network with key community leaders.
The visioning project conducted by the Hardin County Government included a comprehensive review of existing resources and studies, interviews with key community groups, and a confidential key stakeholder survey. This comprehensive process resulted in a set of strategic goals for the community, which were then examined by a committee called Hardin County United. This group will now begin to implement the goals. And that’s just the beginning. The visioning process will continue throughout the year and beyond.
In addition to its many programs, 4-H in Hardin County has expanded its programming to include after-school STEM projects. Fourteen Hardin County youth will now have access to 3-D printing through three after-school programs. In addition, 4-H Tech Wizards are available to youth at three after-school sites. Through a National 4-H Mentoring grant, the county has also expanded its 4-H after-school programs. The program aims to foster wholesome recreation and develop the natural neighbor.
