The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is a new initiative that has been growing in size and impact since it was first introduced in 2008. It is coordinated by the Statewide Independent Living Council and the Arizona Rehabilitation Services Administration, with over a dozen partner organizations. The purpose of the Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is to develop leaders who will work with youth with disabilities to improve the lives of those around them. The program promotes personal growth through experiential learning and provides opportunities to recognize strengths and plan for the future. All participants will receive ongoing support from their mentor, and will have the opportunity to join the AZYLF Alumni Association. This will help them stay connected with the disability movement. The forum is open to youth from all backgrounds.
The AZYLF was modeled after the successful California Youth Leadership Forum. It hosted 21 participants from over half the state’s counties. The youth came from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and were accompanied by volunteer staff. The delegates will work with the staff for a year and receive mentoring from them. They will also be able to participate in the Arizona Youth Leadership Forum’s new program, Stick it to Stigma.
The AZYLF is an innovative six-day conference that fosters personal growth and self-awareness among young people with disabilities. It is scheduled for the week of June 12-17, 2016, at the campus of Arizona State University in Phoenix. To attend, applicants must submit their application by March 31. Arizona Youth Leadership Forum
The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is an annual event that promotes patriotic education, personal enrichment, and leadership development. It is facilitated by Diverse Ability Incorporated and the AZYLI Alumni Association. The event is free and open to the public, with applications due by May 15.
The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is held annually on the campus of Arizona State University and will recruit 25 participants. Participants will learn about civics, government, and disability issues. It will feature guest speakers, presentations by youth with disabilities, and tours of the Arizona State Capitol. The program also includes a Unified Sports basketball game with Special Olympics Arizona and an evening at an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. The event culminates with a formal recognition banquet.
Christina has always had a passion for helping people, and her passion for youth with disabilities has only deepened. In the past ten years, she has provided habilitation and respite services for a number of families. She has also become a guardian to a family member, and has worked with the Arizona Youth Leadership Forum to support youth with disabilities. The program has become her “soul mission” – to help those who need it most.
The AZYLF provides a unique opportunity for young people with disabilities to explore their leadership potential and develop their leadership skills. In addition to providing a leadership development experience, it offers opportunities to interact with peers and develop self-advocacy and advocacy skills. A mentor will provide ongoing support for those who attend the program. And if the Arizona Youth Leadership Forum does not meet this goal, participants can choose to participate virtually, through Zoom.
Arizona Youth Leadership Forum Alumni
The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) is a national program designed to help disabled young adults develop leadership and patriotic education. The forum has hosted hundreds of events since 1991. It is a collaborative effort between the AZYLI Alumni Association and Diverse Ability Incorporated. The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is funded in part by the Arizona Rehabilitation Services Administration and the Statewide Independent Living Council. However, participants are encouraged to volunteer their time.
The AZYLF is an annual multi-day conference for young people with disabilities and their supporters. It is free to attend and is held in different regions of Arizona during the summer. The AZYLF offers mentoring and online courses. Volunteers from organizations and businesses donate in-kind goods and services to support the event. The event is designed to bring together diverse youth from a variety of backgrounds and empower them to lead their communities and improve their communities.
The Arizona Youth Leadership Forum is a unique 6-day summer conference held on a university campus. It was designed to strengthen the leadership and advocacy skills of youth with disabilities in the state of Arizona. Besides her job as a child care provider, Anya Carrillo is also a volunteer at the Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council. She is a member of the AZYLF Alumni Association and hopes to attend college next semester. The program has also led to her being hired by Raising Special Kids as a youth advisor. Anya Carrillo is a true example of a young adult who is ready to take on a leadership role.
This year, AZYLF alumni have established the AZYLF Alumni Association and are actively involved in planning and conducting service projects. Among other activities, the AZYLF Alumni Association will host two fundraising events, two group service projects, and five social activities in Maricopa and Pima counties. The association will implement the Stick it to Sigma campaign and coordinate the Arizona Disability Mentoring Day.
