The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and the University of Utah have an educational exchange and a partnership dating back more than 30 years. Students from both institutions receive credits for participating in the school’s semester-long NOLS course. Since the school has a long history of collaborating with the University, faculty at the university have reviewed NOLS’s curriculum and instructor qualifications. The partnership promotes process-oriented research and educational exchange. A scholarship is offered each year to University of Utah students who are interested in taking a NOLS course.
In addition to developing leadership skills, students develop confidence through leadership in unfamiliar terrain. The National Outdoor Leadership School offers leadership training and wilderness education programs for students ages 14 and up.
